USS Aventinus (ARVE3)

Photographed circa 1951 during her Korean War service.
The raised structure at the forward end of the deckhouse is a cell for testing aircraft engines by running them up. The forward end of the deckhouse on the two airframe repair ships (ARVAs) was low and opened in the front instead of on the sides.

Aircraft Repair Division ONE

Deployed and in operation at the Naval Air Facility, Yokosuka, Japan, on 24 March 1951. This division consisted of USS Aventinus (ARVE-3), foreground, and USS Fabius (ARVA-5).
