Class. New plans were ordered 15.1.46 for brigs to carry an armament of 16cm shell guns. Four were ultimately built, all to plans by different designers:
Faune,
Chasseur,
Entreprenant, and
Obligado. Plans by de Gasté were approved for
Faune in 5.46. New ships of the
Génie class were also built with the new type armament.
Disposal. Faune became a school hulk and was BU 1869.

Disposal. Chasseur became a coal hulk, was renamed

Entreprenant was converted to a transport with 3 masts in 1869.
Disposal. Entreprenant became a torpedo-boat depot hulk (at Bastia in 1900) and was BU 1909.

Class. This ship was designed to carry the same armament as
Faune. Plans by Dorian were approved for her in 3.48. She was named after a joint Franco-British action on 20.11.45 against the Argentines.
Disposal. Obligado became a school hulk, later (c1900) a torpedo-boat depot hulk at Aberwrach (Brest), and was BU 1910.
