Class. This ship was ordered designed as a screw aviso in 1.48 but was changed to paddle in 3.48 after problems were encountered installing the propellor shaft in the corvette Roland, which also had a wood hull. Dorian's modified plan was approved in 5.48. The engines used Penn's pattern of oscillating cylinders. The beam over the paddles was 49ft 6in and the designed displacement was 650t. She ran machinery trials in 5.50 without being put in full commission.

Disposal. Milan replaced Souffleur in 1865 as a coal hulk at Brest and was BU 1866.
