Class. This ship was designed by Gervaize as a yacht for the use of the king during his summers at Eu. Her engines, designed by Rossin, were similar in design to those in the frigate
Infernal and were installed in 7.42. In her trials, her maximum speed was around 7 knots (attributed to insufficient steam from the boilers) and her stability was found to be not completely satisfactory. Her royal furnishings were removed and she was renamed
Vedette 1.4.44. In late 1844 her original boilers were replaced with new tubular boilers for service as an aviso.
