Class. Purchased from the Ministry of Finance and transferred to the navy on 26.11.50. She and her sister Bastia, which was not acquired, were designed by Moissard and built under a law of 14.6.41 for a postal line between Marseilles and Corsica. The law also authorized a third ship, the pioneer French screw steamer Napoléon (later Corse). Ajaccio's sail area was 684 sq.yd.

Disposal. Ajaccio was BU 1871.
