S.S. Polias (Design 1048, EFC Hull 1189) underway in a photo published by her Norwegian designer and builder, Nicolay Knudtzon Fougner. Her design was based on the design of the wood standard ship so that similar machinery, equipment, and fittings could be used and was revised in various details by the EFC. Probably shown in the spring of 1920 in calm weather and at low tide after running onto a shelving rock off the coast of Maine in a blizzard on 6 February 1920. Early examinations showed no structural damage in the above water portion of the ship although the underwater hull was ripped open.
