Notes: Ballin's Design 1102 was essentially his Design 1075 with another small increase in beam and capacity. The contract of 16 July 1918 included four ships Dertona (EFC Hull 2194), Deva (2195), Diana (2196), and Dietys (2197), of which Dietys was suspended in November 1918 and cancelled in March 1919.

Specifications: Design 1102 (Modified Ballin). Wood hull. Deadweight tons: 4500 designed, 4450 actual. Dimensions: 307.0' oa, 295.4' pp x 46.7' ext, 45.0' mld x 26' depth mld, 23.4' draft load. Propulsion: 1 screw, 1 triple expansion engine, watertube boilers, 1600 IHP, 10 knots. Configuration: 2 decks, 3 holds, 4 hatches.
S.S. Dertona (Design 1102)
S.S. Dertona (Design 1102, EFC Hull 2194) on trials on 8 August 1919 after completing construction by the Supple-Ballin S.B. Corp., Portland, Ore. Soon laid up, she was included in the massive sale of 226 wood ships to the Western Marine & Salvage Co. in September 1922. She was delivered to them in June 1923 and her remains have been in Mallows Bay, Maryland, since 1929. (NARA: RG-32-M box 3) (Click photo to enlarge)

On 10 April 1919 just after launching. She was delivered on 13 August 1919 and her sister Deva followed on 30 August 1919. Both were sold before the end of January 1920.

On 15 May 1919 just after launching. She was delivered on 4 December 1919. Unlike most EFC wooden freighters she saw significant merchant service, finally being wrecked in the Bosphorus in 1937
