Two ships of 3500 tons dwt. building for D/S A/S Ada (80) and K. Salvesen (81)

S.S. Ada, later Lake Oneida (Design 1044 precursor, Yard No. 80)

Ada was a diesel propelled variant of the Fredrikstad type ship with her machinery aft. This view, taken on 16 September 1917 with the two below, shows her after mast (its boom in the foreground), poop and stern house as seen from the bridge house. Note the small smokestack for the propulsion motor above the stern cabins.

This view, taken on 16 September 1917, shows the back of the ship's bridge house as seen from the stern. Note the absence of the usual smokestack on the bridge house. Ada had one sister, Motor I, later Lake Mohonk (Yard No. 81). Ada was delivered to the EFC on 24 November 1917 and her sister followed on 23 October 1917.

S.S. Ada, later Lake Oneida (Design 1044 precursor, Yard No. 80)

This view, also taken on 16 September 1917, shows the front of the ship's bridge house. The bridge house without machinery and with some accommodations moved aft was very short, as shown by the distance between the pairs of derrick posts at its forward and after ends.
