One ship of 10500 tons dwt. building for Luckenbach SS., later reconveyed to owners

USS Walter A. Luckenbach (Seattle Yard no. 91)

On trials as a cargo ship on 30 May 1918. She was delivered to the EFC, reconveyed to Luckenbach, and commissioned in the Navy on 9 June 1918. She was decommissioned on 28 July 1919. This twin-screw 13-knot ship had the same hull dimensions as the three ships of the Katrina Luckenbach class built by the Bethlehem Fore River yard at Quincy, Mass., although her rig was different.

USS Walter A. Luckenbach (Seattle Yard no. 91)

Arriving in an East Coast port in 1919 bringing American troops home from Europe. As part of the troopship conversion, portholes were cut in the sides and deckhouses were added aft of the bridge house, probably for latrines for the troops. See her WWI page.
