This portion of the Shipscribe web site contains five tables containing data on all the contracts let for construction of standard-design merchant ship during World War II by the United States Maritime Commission. Five of the tables contain the same data, the difference being in the way they are sorted. The sixth and last table lists the Maritime Commission ship designs with very brief specifications and notes.
These contracts with the construction dates of individual ships were listed in U.S. Maritime Commission, Construction Division, "Permanent Report of Completed Ship Construction Contracts, Report B1." The postwar program was documented through 1976 in U.S. Maritime Administration, "Shipbuilding Progress Report, Permanent Report of Completed Ship Construction Contracts" dated 1 January 1977.
