"Proposed 7500 Ton Cruiser"


Preliminary design drawing prepared for the General Board during the development of an abortive class of smaller cruisers with a dual-purpose main battery (the "CLD").
This plan, dated 9 November 1939, is for a ship with a main battery of twelve 5"/54 guns, with aircraft and two catapults aft. Ship's dimensions are: waterline length 560'; waterline beam 58'; draft 18.5'.
Scale of the original drawings is 1/32" = 1'.

The original plan is in the 1939-1944 "Spring Styles Book" held by the Naval Historical Center.
