"5"/54 Cal. D.P. Cruiser - Design Study "A""

Preliminary design plan prepared for the General Board during consideration of a light cruiser with twin mounts for semi-automatic 5"/54 dual-purpose guns, as originally intended for the abortive Montana class battleships.
This scheme, dated 20 June 1942, provides five of these gun mounts in a hull based on that of the Atlanta (CL-51) class. It was not further developed.
Scale of the original drawings is 1/32" = 1'.

The original plan is in the 1939-1944 "Spring Styles Book" held by the Naval Historical Center.
