USS Dorothea L. Dix (AP-67)

Underway on 10 July 1943 for the invasion of Sicily.
The full load of landing craft indicates the photo was taken before the landing took place. Twin 40mm gun mounts have been added fore and aft, and the two 3"/50 guns aft appear to have been lowered to the level of the former 4"/50 gun position. Photographed from USS Ancon (AGC-4).
